Kian Eftekhari, MD, has been recognized as a 2024 Castle Connolly Top Doctor — the third time he has received the prestigious Top Doctor honor.
SALT LAKE CITY, UT, January 22, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Kian Eftekhari, MD, has been recognized as a 2024 Castle Connolly Top Doctor — the third time he has received the prestigious Top Doctor honor. Only about 7 percent of the nation’s licensed physicians are selected annually as Castle Connolly Top Doctors in their regions for their specialties.
Dr. Eftekhari is with the Eyelid Center of Utah, the Salt Lake City practice he founded in 2019. Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he grew up in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Eftekhari is known for the skilled, patient-tailored approach he takes to every reconstructive and aesthetic surgery he performs. He uses non-surgical and minimally invasive plastic surgery techniques whenever he can and offers patients innovative approaches to eyelid and forehead procedures.
These include upper and lower blepharoplasty (repair of sagging eyelids); endoscopic forehead lifts; minimally invasive ptosis (droopy eyelid) surgery; and no-scar (transconjunctival) lower eyelid surgery.
He has special expertise and experience in treating conditions such as facial paralysis; thyroid eye disease; cancer on or near the eyelids; incorrectly positioned lower eyelids; and blepharospasm and facial spasms.
“The eyelids in many ways are the keystone to the entire face,” Dr. Eftekhari says. “When I perform eyelid surgery, I strive to establish the proper brow and upper-eyelid height without having too much extra skin, and to have the eyelids at just the right height so that they can open and close beautifully.”
Dr. Eftekhari also performs a variety of surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation services, including neurotoxins, dermal fillers, and fat transfer surgery.
“My greatest passion is providing high-quality, individually tailored patient care, and I’m committed to ensuring the optimal outcome for every person I care for,” he says. “At the end of our time together, I want all of my patients to be able to look in the mirror and like the way they look.”
“A lot of my patients worry about whether eyelid surgery will make them look ‘surprised’ or unnatural. It’s important to understand that when eyelid surgery is done well, you will look more awake and more refreshed without necessarily looking like you’ve had surgery done.”
Dr. Eftekhari earned his medical degree at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed a four-year ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania/Presbyterian Medical Center Scheie Eye Institute. He completed an accredited two-year oculofacial plastic surgery fellowship in Salt Lake City with Dr. Richard Anderson. He is an active member of The Oculofacial Society, the society of eyelid surgeons also known as the American Society for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS).
He also holds a bachelor’s degree in human biology from Stanford University,
Top Doctors are nominated by peer physicians and selected by the physician-led Castle Connolly research team.
“It is an incredible honor to be recognized with the Top Doctor distinction,” Dr. Eftekhari says.
“My biggest source of pride is when my patients are happy with my work, and a close second is being recommended by my peers who excel at what they do. I’m humbled and grateful for this recognition.”
